Don’t be fooled by my efforts to do ‘good’

I have pointed to this previously, ‘we have the opposite in equal measure’.

This is as true of me as it is of any human. Do not let moments of earnest effort to do good fool you; I am not under any illusions about the truth of my humanness.

I am as stupid as I am smart; I have done my share of cringe-worthy things. I am as ugly as I am beautiful; just spend time with me at home or on retreat and you’ll see. I can be as nasty and impatient as I am kind and gracious; just come visit me when I'm sick or tired.

I am putting it out there, just because my intention is to do the greatest good in any context i.e. do good and not harm, that does not mean that I am ignorant of the truth of my character, that I am as monstrous as I am kind. I am not ignorant of it, just because I try to do good.

So, be as kind to me as you would to any one tending with the human, pleeeeee-ease.
